Before discovering laser cutting, my passion has always been (and still is) knitting and crochet. I love doing it, I love teaching it and I even just love watching videos of other people doing it. Over the years many people have told me that I should sell my work but I usually just made items to give to charity or just for the fun of it. I didn’t really think my items were something people would buy and wasn’t even sure how I would go about the practical things like what items to sell, pricing etc.
Then one day I decided to try and look into the world of sales. I set up Knittums, which has now become the needlework branch of Virtually Anything, and started to sell my hats and gloves in winter. The people who bought them loved them and still use them many winters later.
Knittums gave me a very good opportunity to start learning the ropes a little, while still having a full-time job. This definitely added to my confidence when I did finally get up the courage to do this full time. One of the biggest lessons I learned, and something I hope to convey through this blog, is that having confidence in yourself, believing in your ability to do something, especially something you are passionate about, can lead to great things. Remember: believe in yourself. You are good enough. You can make it happen.
You can see some of my Knittums items on https://www.facebook.com/knittums and keep a lookout for more coming soon.
